主講人簡介：

饒子和院士，清華大學(xué)教授，中國科學(xué)院學(xué)部主席團(tuán)成員，全國政協(xié)常委，南開大學(xué)原校長，中國科學(xué)院生物物理研究所原所長，國際生物物理學(xué)界聯(lián)盟前任主席。饒子和及其團(tuán)隊(duì)主要從事新發(fā)、再發(fā)傳染病病原體的結(jié)構(gòu)與功能研究，以及創(chuàng)新藥物的研發(fā)。研究團(tuán)隊(duì)在新型冠狀病毒、SARS冠狀病毒、禽流感病毒、甲型肝炎病毒、皰疹病毒、非洲豬瘟病毒等病毒的感染、復(fù)制和組裝，以及結(jié)核分枝桿菌能量和代謝物運(yùn)輸、耐藥性和細(xì)胞壁合成的結(jié)構(gòu)功能研究中取得了重要進(jìn)展。在新型冠爆發(fā)期間，饒子和團(tuán)隊(duì)首先解析了新冠病毒的兩個(gè)主要抗病毒藥物靶點(diǎn)―主蛋白酶和聚合酶的三維結(jié)構(gòu)，為認(rèn)識(shí)病毒復(fù)制機(jī)制和發(fā)展抗病毒藥物，提供了重要科學(xué)基礎(chǔ)。迄今為止在國際科學(xué)期刊上發(fā)表同行評(píng)審論文380余篇，其中包括在Science、Nature、Cell三大科學(xué)雜志的主刊上發(fā)表研究論文21篇，被引用逾17,000次，獲批專利37項(xiàng)。

Prof Rao is a renowned structural biologist whose research focus is on the study of pathogenic infectious agents. His work has provided ground-breaking insights into viral infection, replication and assembly, and into energy and metabolite transport, drug resistance and cell wall synthesis in Mycobacteria tuberculosis. His most recent work on picornaviruses, herpesvirus, Mycobacteria tuberculosis provided much-needed structural data for the design and development of new anti-viral and anti-TB drugs. To date, Prof Rao has published 380 peer-reviewed papers in international scientific journals with over 17,000 citations.

Since 2003, Prof. Rao has been elected as a Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Member of Academy of Sciences for Developing Countries, Fellow of Hertford College, University of Oxford, Member of International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Honorary Doctor of University of Glasgow and Hong Kong Baptist University. From 2014-2017, Prof. Rao served as the President of International Union for Pure and Applied Biophysics (IUPAB). From 2006-2017, he served as the Chairman of Biophysics Society of China. Now, he serves as the Honorary Chairman of Biophysics Society of China.
