Brief Introduction of Professor Wang Jingxiu
Wang Jingxiu is the Research Professor in the National Astronomical Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Professor of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Editor in chief of Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He graduated from the Department of Geophysics at the Peking University in 1969. He received his PhD degree from the Beijing Astronomical Observatory (National Astronomical Observatory) in 1987 and has worked as a Research Professor at the Beijing Astronomical Observatory since 1992. He visited California Institute of Technology in the United States, and served as a visiting Professor at the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science in Japan, the Adjunct Professor in Peking University, and the Honorary Professor of Department of Space and Climate Physics in University College London. He has served in the Commission of solar physics of the International Astronomical Union, the member of editor committee of Solar Physics. The main work focuses on the reliable measurement and physical description of the vector magnetic field in the solar active region, the pioneering research of the intrinsic weak magnetic field of the solar system and the exploration of the mechanism of solar activity. Due to his contribution to the study in the structure and evolution of the solar magnetic field, he won the second prize of National Natural Science Prize in 2009, and the Zhang Yu Zhe Award by the Chinese Astronomical Society in 2012.
